Carl Cyrén is a Swedish industrial designer, furniture carpenter and glass artist who works out of his studio in Gröndal, Stockholm. With an individual approach to design he applies unique methods and techniques to the craft of glass artistry.

Floral design studio BOZ ART offers high end flower installations for private residentials, commercial clients, events, weddings and photo shoots. We popped in earlier this season to say hello and threw some questions at founder Mirja Bozarth Fornell while she was preparing for another project.

Introducing our Nitty Gritty® Calendar for 2024, a collaborative release made with the very talented Spanish artist and illustrator Sandra Navarro. Based in Barcelona, Sandra is known for her illustrative work, with pieces featured in Harvard Business Review, The New Yorker and Monocle among others. We've worked with Sandra a number of times over the years, but for this project we got to see a new interpretation of her visual expression.

Nitty Gritty® Calendar - A visual study of Spacetime

We are very happy to introduce the next artist to collaborate with us on our yearly Nitty Gritty® Calendar. Our good friend, Stockholm-based artist N.ALEG creates work that possesses an enigmatic and captivating feeling. He plays with the eye of the observer through a perspective he likes to refer to as 2.5 dimensional. For this project N.ALEG has conducted “A visual study of Spacetime”.

Keep an eye on this page as it will be updated once a month throughout 2022. Little by little you will be able to take part of the study that N.ALEG is conducting.

When we first started discussing the idea of making a piece of jewellery for Nitty Gritty® Worldwide it felt natural to ask our old friend, Swedish designer Göran Kling if he was interested in working with us. Seoul-based clothing label Andersson Bell was launched in 2014. Inspired by Korean and Scandinavian culture, the brand reinterprets and combines two contrasting traits to create an individual and unique aesthetic and perspective. The brand collections feature playful designs in vivid patterning, patchwork and colour blocking.

We reached out to Creative Director Dohun Kim, to ask some questions about the brand.

Our second editorial from Spring/Summer 2022 is inspired by an earthwork sculpture created by Robert Smithson in 1970 called the Spiral Jetty. Located in the Great Salt Lake in Utah, it forms a spiral that is 460m long and 4.6m wide. The sculpture coils counterclockwise and leads out from the shore of the lake. The massiveness and tranquility that the Spiral Jetty possesses is nothing short of beautiful.

Aquarelle, a painting technique in which transparent colours are suspended in a water-based solution. This method can be used to create gradients, color blending, layering, back washes and can be applied on wet or dry surfaces. Often seen throughout history by landscape painters, this technique dates back to the ancient Egyptians.

Heleneborgs Båtklubb (HBK) is a non-profit located in Pålsundet, a port area on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm. The initiative was formed by Carl Ask, who in 1919 gathered 14 boat owners to create a club to promote boating locally, spreading knowledge and skill and to work towards building a friendly community.

This is the Nitty Gritty® calendar, it depicts the changing conditions of the landscape that surrounds us through a collection of illustrations done by our good friend and talented artist Siri Carlén. Each month features a quote from one of our brands or designers that gives a bit of insight to their relationship with it.

British heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour recently teamed up with New York-based clothing label Noah to release their second capsule collection. The collaboration takes advantage of both brands strengths and features re-worked interpretations of well-known classics. Exclusive bold paisley and zebra print pattering is featured throughout the collection and is seen on waxed cotton pieces including the iconic Bedale jacket, classic sports caps and vintage inspired backpacks. These patterns are inspired by English dressing and interiors and take on the personality of the wearer.

Grünewaldvillan was designed in 1893 by Swedish architect Ferdinand Boberg. Although some changes have been made to the structure over the years it has kept its traditional charm to this day.

Our good friend, Stockholm-based artist N.ALEG recently held his latest exhibition in our Men's Store. His work plays with the eye of the observer through a perspective he likes to refer to as 2.5 dimensional. The imagery may be perceived as flat at first glance but gradually reveal multiple depths, a sort of optical illusion made up by intertwining shapes and layers. He expresses his perception of both sides of the non-dualistic world through his work, focusing on the basis of consciousness while highlighting the observer within us.

Primula (/ˈprɪmjʊlə/)is a genus of mainly herbaceous flowering plants in the family Primulaceae. They have been extensively cultivated and hybridised. Primula are native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere, south into tropical mountains in Ethiopia, Indonesia, and New Guinea, and in temperate southern South America. Almost half of the known species are from the Himalayas.

Yoko A Yamano is a craft-based glass-artist and tableware designer from Japan. She creates works inspired by peoples behaviours, quirks and habits and uses what she observes to find solutions that fit her clients needs.

"When looking at my work you should expect to see marks. Maybe a fingerprint, ridges from throwing, scars from how they were stacked in the kiln and patterns created by fire. To me these marks are decorative and very much a part of the pieces spirit. However I let them come naturally and not by force.”

Allotment gardens are subdivided plots of land that can be rented and used to grow vegetables and flowers. These plots often include small sheds that can be used for storage and accommodation. Scattered across the inner city, each space brings a calm contrast to its surroundings. There are around 10,000 allotments in the Stockholm-area, each one highly popular with a long membership line.
