Battenwear

Founded in 2011 and is based in New York City with a satellite office in Topanga Canyon, California. Designer Shinya Hasegawa is a lifelong vintage clothing hound. His inspiration for Battenwear comes from late 1960’s through early 1980’s surf and outdoor wear, an era of clothing he sees as embodying constant change, challenge, and forward-moving energy.

Battenwear is an American outdoor and sportswear label founded by designer Shinya Hasegawa in Manhattan’s Garment District in 2012. The brand is made for the adventurer who needs high-quality gear that is both reliable and good-looking. By using traditional manufacturing techniques and keeping dedication to functionality and comfort at the forefront of each design, the brand is able to craft heritage-inspired, contemporary garments that will only get better with time and each use. 

2022 marks Battenwear's 10 year anniversary. To celebrate the occasion the brand has looked back on the past 50 years of American outdoor/sportswear to gain inspiration, as well as their own past 10 years in the industry. The anniversary collection shows how far the brand has come in a decade and how true they have stayed to their original goal. Going off what their customers like and look for, the brand has fine tuned combinations of fabrics and details to hit the spot.
